Steven Smith Ruled Out of the Caribbean Premier League League Due to Side Strain

Former Australia skipper Steven Smith has been ruled out of the remainder of Caribbean Premier League due to a side strain, Barbados Tridents captain Jason Holder revealed during the toss ahead of the game against St Lucia Stars on Sunday. Smith is on his way back home to receive treatment for the injury.

Steven Smith was available to play in the league for the first time after receiving a one-year suspension for involvement in ball-tampering scandal. He had replaced Bangladeshi Shakib Al Hasan in the squad.

In the seven games for the Tridents till now, Smith had picked three wickets and scored 185 runs at an average of 26.42. Tridents are currently at the last spot in the points table, with just two wins to their name.
